Just like that, winter is over.
Spring has come.
Along with the wonderful blossoming of the sakura trees, the spring season ushers a time of changes in Japan. Transition from student life to working adult. Transfer from one work department to another. Advancing from junior high school to senior high school. Returning back home. These are all the changes that make spring both unique and fascinating.
The same with the lively Filipino community here in Japan who celebrated several events during the start of the spring season. Partner Y’s was honored to be part of the two activities:
Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) Charity Ball 2018
The annual event is headed by the Philippine Assistance Group or PAG which is the umbrella organization of different Filipino groups in the Kanto area. The event draws around 200-300 people yearly who dress up and party-for-a-cause for the whole night.
The event also served as a farewell night for outgoing Consul General Marian Joy Tirol-Ignacio and her husband Minister Josel Ignacio. The couple, which has served the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo for six years are finally saying goodbye in the coming days.
Paghayo sa Tagsibol 2018
The event is organized by the Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ), a student organization based in Kanto area comprising of Filipino students, scholars, researchers, post-doc fellows currently attending Japanese schools, universities, and institutes.
For this occasion, there were nine graduates from different Japanese universities who were honored led by Ambassador Jose V. Laurel V himself. Partner Y’s was also recognized in the event as one of the official sponsors of the organization for the fiscal year 2017-2018.
Season of Changes
As we usher into a new chapter of the year, we continue to hope the Filipino community, Consul General Joy and Minister Josel, the members of AFSJ a fresh start in the new opportunities awaiting them. Whatever changes there will be, Partner Y’s will always be here, we will always be Your Wise Partner.
